Disney’s Hollywood Studios is undergoing a lot of major changes over the next few years. Muppets Courtyard will be no more, and will be transforming into an all new Monsters Inc. Land. This land will have shops, restaurants, and feature an all new roller coaster, based on the first movies scare floor/laugh floor. Below is an up to date timeline for Monsters Inc. Land:

During my flight out of Orlando today, I managed to capture some photographs of the ongoing construction preparations for the Monsters Inc. Land.
The Cast Member parking lot is now blocked off. This is in preparation for park development on it. A majority of the Monsters Inc. Door Coasters Footprint will make utilize this space.
Today, @Bioreconstruct shared additional photos on X. We can now see the construction walls from the previous update that have been installed.
June 10th, 2025 – New Monsters Inc. Land Concept Art
Overnight, Disney has installed the remaining walls outside of the former Muppets Courtyard. In addition, this has led to a new development: updated concept art has been revealed.
There are many key differences between the two peices of concept art. Noticed throughout the new art is the removal of some facade work. The former “Gonzos Royal Flush and PizzeRizo facade aren’t reciving as many updates. Disney has renamed “The Monstero” Theatre, the original name for former location of Muppet*Vision 3D, to “The Glob” in the new concept art.
On a more positive note, Disney has added more open space to the area back by the Monsters Inc. door coaster. Some speculation on social media today was that the area to the left is an extended covered queue for the attraction. What I believe is much more likely is the area being a playground. Similarly, original concept art had a playground in that exact location in front of the door coaster.
June 9th, 2025 – Monsters Inc. Construction Walls Go Up
Today, Hollywood Studios has replaced the temporary green bushes in front of Muppets Courtyard with plain walls.
June 8th, 2025 – Muppet Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo Close Forever
As of June 8th, 2025, Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo have permanently closed their doors. We thoroughly covered yesterday’s events, which you can find here!
As of this morning, planters have been placed at the entrance of the land, and the entire area is now blocked off to guests. It is reported that there will be a Cast Member event on June 10th, 2025 in the land for Cast to bid the attraction farewell. Afterward, construction is likely to commence on the new area quickly.
May 10th, 2025 – Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano Serves Their Final Guests
Today marks the closure of Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, one of the first offerings in Muppets Courtyard. The restaurant will be permanently shut down today. The outdoor facade of the building will undergo a complete transformation to accommodate the new Monsters Inc. land. In its place, Harryhausen’s, a high-end Asian restaurant in Monstropolis, will open.
January, 24th, 2025 – Closing Date Announced For Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Muppets Courtyard
Today, the closing date for Muppets Courtyard has been announced. This includes Muppet*Vision 3D, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, and PizzeRizzo.
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will close first. The last day the restaurant will serve guests is May 10th, 2025.
You will have a little more time to experience Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo. The last day you will be able to experience the remaining Muppets Courtyard will be June 7th, 2025. The land will be permanently closed on June 8th.
November 22, 2024 – Monsters Inc. Land To Replace Muppets Courtyard
Today, we received an update on the location of the new land in Hollywood Studios, inspired by Monsters Inc. While this is exciting, fans of The Muppets will be disappointed, as Muppets Courtyard will be closing to make way for the new Monsters Inc. land.
Disney has apparently devised a solution to quell any discontent among Muppets fans. Out of left field, the Muppets are taking over Rock’n’ Roller Coaster. They will “collaborate with music’s most renowned artists for an electrifying music festival.”
Muppet*Vision 3D, a late work by Jim Henson, opened at Hollywood Studios on May 16, 1991. It’s a significant loss if this film is permanently removed from the parks. I genuinely hope Disney plans to relocate it to another location in the future.
Construction on the new area has not been scheduled. We will keep you informed as we gather more details in the coming months.
August 11th, 2024 – Monsters Inc. Land Announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios
After over 20 years of rumors, Disney has finally announced that a new Monsters Inc. Land will be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The location of the new land remains a mystery. When Disney announced the new land and door coaster at D23, they didn’t reveal its location within the park, sparking numerous rumors. The two most plausible candidates based on concept art are the Animation Courtyard or, regrettably, the Muppets Courtyard.
