For the first time since 2019, the Walt Disney World Resort will have both of its water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, open at the same time. This change comes after several years of alternating operations due to refurbishments and likely lower demand, but starting this summer, visitors will have both parks to choose from!
Important Dates You Need To Know for Typhoon Lagoon And Blizzard Beach
Typhoon Lagoon is set to reopen on May 1, 2025, and Blizzard Beach will follow on May 21, 2025. Blizzard Beach will close temporarily from May 1st through May 20th for a short refurbishment. Both parks will remain open through September 7, 2025, giving guests plenty of time to enjoy both parks.
Blizzard Beach is celebrating its 30th anniversary this summer, and Disney is planning a special celebration with dance parties, themed food, and exclusive character appearances for what they are calling a “Cool Kid Summer”. Disney Resort hotel guests currently get complimentary admission to the water parks on their check-in day.
H2O Glow After Hours Returns To Typhoon Lagoon
In addition, the popular H2O Glow After Hours event will return to Typhoon Lagoon this summer. This after-dark event, running select nights from May 23 to September 13, offers a glowing atmosphere with dance parties, special character meet-and-greets, and free snacks. Tickets are $85 per adult and $42.50 per child.
Disney used interesting wording in their posts, as they typically do not denote that they have 6 parks. Instead, they state that they have 4 theme parks and 2 water parks. This is likely due to the opening of Universal’s 4th park on May 22nd: Universal Epic Universe. Universal only has 3 theme parks and 1 water park.

With both parks open, Disney is expecting the crowds to be more evenly spread out, which should make for a better experience for everyone looking to cool off during those hot summer months.
