After years of inactivity, an animatronic dog, which had been stationed in the exit queue of Space Mountain, was spotted moving again this morning by one of our contributors, Josh.
BREAKING: The animatronic robot dog, previously known as “Nipper” at Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom after YEARS, is finally moving again. We’re happy to see the old man back to wagging his tail as you pass by. 🐕 pic.twitter.com/ZJvzkeOPCs

The animatronic, originally named “Nipper” from RCA’s logo, underwent a transformation into a robot dog when the sponsorship ended in 1993. During a major refurbishment of one of the attractions in 2009, the robot dog was relocated to a new vignette in the post-show area, depicting a camping scene at “Crater Caverns.” It’s been several years since this animatronic has been in working order, and we’re delighted to see it wagging its tail once again.

Space Mountain’s 50th anniversary celebration concluded over a month ago. Disney has been diligently making various improvements to commemorate this milestone year. I recently wrote an article a week ago that highlights some of the other exciting 50th-anniversary fixes we are eagerly anticipating at the attraction. Be sure to check it out here.
