Space Mountain Receives Much Needed Maintenance For Its 50th Anniversary – Magic Kingdom

A little under a month ago, Space Mountain celebrated its 50th anniversary at the Walt Disney World Resort. And we noticed some positive changes in the past few times we’ve visited the out-of-this-world coaster.

Purple Lighting Behind Load Platform Restored

First looking at the load area, you’ll notice the purple lighting along the walls of the Cast Member Side of the load platform. These have not been working in many years, and we are very happy to see these lights in working order.

Original 1975 Earth Re-Added

One thing missing from Space Mountain for a long time has been the original Earth projection on the ceiling of the attraction as you ascend the lift hill. This was originally reported by ThemeParkNerdo on X.

In recent rides on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover, we have noticed that the projection is slightly obstructed. We’re not sure if this was the case when it was originally projected, but we we’re excited to see Earth and the spinning cookie again nonetheless.

Peppers Ghost Effect In Queue Has Returned

Also pointed out by ThemeParkNerdo on X was a maintenance update on one of the peppers ghost effects in the attraction queue. They have required a dusting for a while, and we are happy they have gotten some love.

Happy 50th Birthday Space Mountain!

We hope your adventures are filled with screams and entertainment for the many generations ahead!
