Soon, Universal Orlando Resort smoking areas will be no more. The resort will remove all designated smoking areas from its theme parks. This includes Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and the soon-to-open Epic Universe. This policy change aims to promote a healthier environment for all guests.
Previously, each park maintained a single designated Universal Orlando Resort smoking area. Gramercy Park was the location in Universal Studios Florida. The lagoon area in Port of Entry at Islands of Adventure served as the sole smoking zones. Volcano Bay’s designated area was located in Wave Village, and Epic Universe’s was near the Stardust Racers attraction. Soon, smoking (including the use of e-cigarettes and vaporizers) will be prohibited within all Universal Orlando theme parks.
Universal has not yet released an official statement or updated its website to reflect this change. However, numerous reports from other outlets indicate that team members have been informed. At the bottom of the park policies page, in the section that says “Smoking in Designated Areas” it reads “Details are subject to changes and/or cancellation without notice.” It remains unclear whether Universal CityWalk will be affected by this change. It also is unknown if designated smoking areas will be established outside the park entrances, similar to the approach taken by Walt Disney World in 2019.
Universal’s First Smoking Free Universal Park To Open May 22nd
This is an interesting development. This would make Universal Epic Universe one of the first ever to officially open without smoking areas in the park. We’re not sure what location ouside the park will be utilized at Epic Universe.
